About
The Aemula Protocol
Aemula is a decentralized platform for independent journalism on a mission to rebuild trust and reverse polarization in media.
To ensure the news we read is verifiably neutral, free of outside influence, and resistant to censorship, the Aemula platform runs on The Aemula Protocol, a community-governed, open-source set of programmatic rules that determine the underlying incentives for independent reporting. Anyone can contribute, and everyone has full transparency into the journalistic process.
The Aemula Protocol leverages multiple decentralized technologies so that no single entity is capable of exerting control over the information we use to construct our worldviews. Instead of editorial boards, private corporate servers, and the walled gardens of traditional newsrooms, Aemula operates on permissionless, peer-to-peer networks that are open to all, and controlled by none.
Through this documentation, we hope to help you learn more about Aemula and our mission to provide an alternative to the corporate social networks and legacy news outlets that control the flow of information in today's media landscape.
Note that The Aemula Protocol is still in beta testing, with full governance voting held by Aemula. To propose improvements to the protocol at this stage, reach out to community@aemula.com at any time.
