Cancellation & Refund Policy

Thank you for using Aemula (the “Platform”). This Cancellation & Refund Policy (“Policy”) explains how you may cancel your subscription and when you may be eligible for a refund. This Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service by reference. Capitalized terms used but not defined in this Policy have the meanings assigned to them in the Terms of Service.


1. Free Access & Trial Periods

a. Free Exploration

  • We allow Users to explore certain features of our Platform without creating an account.
  • In some cases, we also offer free trial periods for new Users to test additional functionalities before committing to a paid subscription.

b. No Obligation

  • If you use the Platform only during a free trial or free access period, you will not be charged any fees unless and until you decide to subscribe to a paid plan.

2. Paid Subscriptions

a. Subscription Activation

  • Once you subscribe to a paid plan through our third-party payment service provider (PSP), an on-chain transaction is executed and settled to our wallet on the Base blockchain.
  • This transaction triggers payment flows to Authors and Moderators based on your and other Users’ interactions on the Platform.

b. Auto-Renewals

  • You may elect for your subscription plan to renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annually), unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • You can manage your auto-renewal settings in Account > Manage Subscription or by contacting us at support@aemula.com.

3. Cancellation

a. How to Cancel

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time by accessing Account > Manage Subscription or contacting support@aemula.com.
  • Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

b. Post-Cancellation Access

  • After you initiate a cancellation, you will retain access to your subscribed features until the end of the current billing cycle.
  • Once the billing cycle ends, your subscription will not renew, and you will lose access to any features exclusive to paid subscribers.

4. Refunds

a. General Policy

  • Due to the on-chain nature of our transactions and subsequent payouts to Authors and Moderators, we are generally unable to provide refunds for partially used subscription periods once payment has been made and the billing cycle has begun.

b. Exceptional Circumstances

  • We may, at our sole discretion, grant refunds in specific cases.
  • If you believe you qualify for a refund, please contact us at support@aemula.com within a reasonable time frame. We will review your request and notify you of the refund decision.

c. Completed Billing Cycles

  • Aemula programmatically passes subscription revenue net of fees to Authors and Moderators. Once a subscription period has ended, any associated payments may have already been distributed to Authors and Moderators. In such instances, we are unable to issue refunds for that completed billing cycle.

d. Refund Method

  • Any approved refund will be processed through the original payment method, subject to the policies and processing times of our PSP or your financial institution.

5. Chargebacks

a. Disputed Charges

  • If you have any concerns or questions about a charge on your account, please contact us first at support@aemula.com.

b. Investigation

  • We reserve the right to contest any chargebacks we deem unfounded. If a chargeback is determined to be fraudulent or issued in error, you remain responsible for the full subscription amount plus any associated fees incurred by us.
  • Note that all subscription transactions and the delivery of the Platform Services to the User are recorded on-chain as part of the public and immutable ledger.

6. Changes to This Policy

a. Updates

  • We may update this Cancellation & Refund Policy from time to time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated policy, with a new “Last Updated” date at the top.
  • Your continued use of the Platform after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Cancellation & Refund Policy.

b. Material Changes

  • If we make significant changes, we will notify you by posting a notice on the Platform or by sending you an email (if you have elected to share your email address).
